My Secret Buddy struck again

Thank you secret buddy!! The gifts were great and the poem beautiful. Its like Christmas every day these days with gifts and quilting squares. Every time I receive a secret buddy gift I know I'm one month closer to going to China!

100 Good Wishes Quilt

For those who don't know I have joined a "quilt square swap" in the attempt to gather enough squares to make a 100 Good Wishes Quilt. The idea is BIG in the Chinese adoption community and is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. It is a custom to invite friends and family to contribute a patch of cloth with a wish for the baby. Part of the patch of cloth goes into the quilt for the baby, and the other part of the cloth can go into a creative memory notebook with the wish for the child. The quilt contains the luck, energy, and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation. I have already received several beautiful swatches with cards to place in a scrap book and am currently cutting fabric to send out to other adoptive families. THANK YOU! If your reading this and would like to send a swatch please do (at least 8x8 in size) and include a small card also for scrapbook. For those of you who are reading this thinking that I am the last person in the world to make a quilt YOUR RIGHT! I have 12-14 months to learn how, now thats a way to keep busy!

2 Months Down!!

Today it has been 2 months since we were logged in with CCAA. No one is sure how long we will be waiting but we are definitely one month closer!!

Congrats to all the new parents who are seeing their children for the first time today! I have to say I'm disappointed in the amount of days processed and it really looks like this wait will lead us well into 2008. We'll see how it goes next month, hopefully before the Chinese New Year.
